She just wanted to be like everyone else

She just wanted to be like everyone else

Our daughter was 14 years old when we discovered that she was gifted. She had an age where she just wanted to be like the others in her class, and she didn’t want to accept that she was gifted. She did not even want to hear mention of giftedness despite many years of not thriving socially at school.

We had previously tried many different types of therapy at different psychologists and had also visited schools for gifted. No matter what she gave a clear no or resisted it. Her opposition changed, when we visited Gifted Institute.

My daughter has been tested at the institute and has greatly benefited from a therapy course. There has been strong trust almost from the beginning, and she never opposes going to a therapy appointment.

She is still not enthused about being gifted, but we are getting there, and the therapy at Gifted Institute gives her a constantly growing understanding of herself, and lessens her anxiety and OCD.

As parents we are deeply grateful for having found a place that makes our daughter feel safe, and which clearly helps her.
