Ann Marie Roeper
Ann Marie Roeper (1918-2016) was an American psychologist and educator renowned for her work in gifted education. She was a pioneer in studying giftedness and creativity, developing numerous innovative approaches to identifying and educating gifted students. Roeper was born in Germany and emigrated to the United States in 1935. She earned her bachelor's degree from New York University, her master's from Columbia University, and her PhD from the University of Chicago. In 1942, she established the Roeper School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, which was among the first US schools specializing in gifted children. She helped establish the Council for Exceptional Children's Association for the Gifted and served as its chairwoman from 1963 to 1965.
