Therapy- and counseling programs for youths and adults
Gifted youth and adults may find it difficult to fit in and find themselves. They might experience challenges in finding their place within the educational system or the job market. They may not have acquired the relevant study habits. Or perhaps their struggles with social relationships have become so entrenched that depression, melancholy, and anxiety are knocking on the door.
For young and adult twice-exceptional individuals, identified as such or not, it's often the case that their self-esteem or self-confidence has been under pressure since the beginning of primary school. This makes it challenging to find the courage to grapple with daily life and work or education. It can seem overwhelming to "move forward" when one feels an unrealized potential, and many can't find the spirit or motivation.
Gifted Institute offers therapy and counseling sessions for adolescents and adults at the institute, supervised by the institute's licensed psychologist Johnnie Rasmussen. We offer sessions for youths and adults from 16 years and up. We can provide help with a wide range of psychological issues such as anxiety, suicidal thoughts, PTSD, stress, existential depression, and self-esteem issues. We also have experience with therapy courses for twice-exceptional youths and adults who have been diagnosed with, for example, ADHD, autism, schizophrenia, or OCD.
Gifted youth and adults can express their experiences from school, higher education, or from work. Through the sessions, they are given space to put their frustrations and intentions into words. Being gifted, with or without learning difficulties, is characterized by a unique way of experiencing the world and everyday life. This experience is uncovered through the conversations, where individual experiences are described and analyzed.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Therapy sessions for youth and adults at Gifted Institute take place online. To ensure the best foundation for a good collaboration, the starting point for a therapy course at the institute is a clarifying/introductional interview with physical attendance.
The purpose of this interview is to ensure that there is good and constructive chemistry. Therapy courses are always planned individually based on the individual's needs and progression. If you are gifted or twice-exceptional and have some issues you would like to discuss, please write to [email protected], so we can find a time for a phone call or an online meeting.
Gifted Institute continuously develops new and exciting events and offerings aimed at gifted children, adolescents, and adults.
